Sheyla Hershey, the model who claims to have the world’s largest breasts, is now in a coma following a suicide attempt. According to The Sun:

Brazilian Hershey, who lives in Houston, Texas, had her MMM-cup implants removed in September after getting an infection during an op to fit them. She was due to have an op to return her to a size KKK today.

But the bipolar mum, who has been in therapy over her boob obsession, overdosed on Sunday – her second suicide bid in two months. After her first attempt, she said: “Once I reclaim my identity as the World’s Biggest Boobs I can be a better role model for my daughter.

“I feel so ugly without my breasts. Without them, I don’t know who I am.”

Wow. She obviously has major psychiatric problems. I hope she gets through all right and both she and her family get some effective therapy.

Sheyla Hershey is a Brazilian born, Houston resident, who is most famous for the size of her breasts. She made national headlines early in 2009, when she wanted to increase her bust from 38FFF to 38KKK and ran into a Texas sized roadblock. Apparently, “Everything is bigger in Texas,” has its limits when it comes to breast implants. Unable to have larger implants placed in Texas, she returned to her native Brazil for the surgery.

Sheyla Hershey is again making headlines. Sadly, this time it is for complications of her breast augmentation. Earlier this summer she developed an infection around her implants, necessitating their temporary removal. On her blog this morning, Sheyla shares that she is doing well at home recovering from her surgery last Thursday. She also plans to have her implants replaced. This is usually done after the infection has cleared and the injury has healed — three to six months after surgery, and sometimes longer.

Breast implant infections are one of the complications covered on all breast augmentation informed consent forms. While rare, infections after breast augmentation can occur. Most are superficial infections that clear with oral antibiotics; however, deep infections can also occur. These are more serious and may require intravenous antibiotics and even hospitalization. When the infection is deep, around the implant, sometimes the only way to clear the infection is to remove the breast implants and leave them out for several months while the body heals.

Bigger is not always better. Larger breast implants put more strain on the body’s systems. The stretch and compression of a large breast implant decreases the circulation in the surrounding soft tissues. Less circulation means decreased oxygen delivered, fewer white blood cells, and lower levels of antibiotic delivery to the breasts. Larger implants also create a larger potential space in which the bacteria, usually staph, can hide. All these factors make it harder for the infection to clear.

Breast implant infections are much more common after breast reconstruction than after cosmetic breast augmentation. The additional insult to circulation that results from the mastectomy is just one contributing factor. Tissue expansion is often used to stretch the skin which remains on the chest. This is done to compensate for the skin removed during the mastectomy. Chemotherapy reduces the bodies ability to fight infections, though this is usually temporary. Radiation causes injury to the skin and chest wall. One effect is scarring of the blood vessels. This causes a long term decrease in circulation that gets worse with time.

Implants which are placed behind the muscle have better protection from infection. The circulation in the muscle is a major contributor. Unlike the breast gland proper, the space behind the muscle is sterile. The breast is a gland, and is open to the outside world at the nipple. This increases the likelihood of bacteria being under the skin, and closer to breast implants placed in front of the muscle. This leads to a slightly increase the risk of infection when breast implants are not behind the muscle.

What are the Chances of Breast Implant Infections?

Infections can occur any time the skin is cut. Most surgical infections appear within a few days to weeks after an operation. The risks of getting an infection after any “clean” surgery, like breast augmentation surgery, is 1%. If you have an infection anywhere in your body at the time of surgery, your risk of a breast implant infection will dramatically increase. This is one reason I sometimes have to postpone elective cosmetic surgery. It is better to be inconvenienced than to take the risk of getting a postoperative infection and losing your breast implants.

For cosmetic breast augmentation, infection is rarely the reason breast implants are removed. For all implants removed within ten years of breast augmentation surgery, infection was the reason in only 2% of cases. The most common reasons breast implants are removed are the desire to change the breast implant’s size (usually larger), deflation of the breast implant or capsular contracture.

For breast reconstruction, the chances of infection are increased 2 to 4 fold. While breast reconstruction is similar to cosmetic breast augmentation, the patients and their breasts are different. For all implants removed within ten years of breast reconstruction surgery, infection was the reason in 12% of cases. For breast reconstruction, placing the implant behind the muscle has been shown to prevent complications.

While no one likes dwelling on everything that can go wrong in life, if you are considering elective cosmetic surgery, like breast augmentation surgery, it is important to review the risks and well as the benefits. While complications like infection are rare, remember, the more the limits are pushed, the greater the risk.

Sheyla plans on returning to Mexico in the new year to have her breast implants further inflated in hopes of increasing her bust size to 38MMM.

“He doesn’t want me to keep on having these operations and he says that every time I go he thinks I might not come back alive. He says, ‘how do you think your little girl will look at you and your breasts?’ I tell him that she loves them and that I am a good mother.”

Sheyla is currently in a Houston hospital, were surgeons have removed her gigantic breast implants in an attempt to stop the infection. There is a possibility that Sheyla will still have to have one, or both, of her breasts removed in an attempt to save her life.

Sheryl who just made People Magazine's list for celebrities that look half their age, has never had any enhancements done with botox or any other type of plastic surgery, according her interview seen on “Daytime in No Time” posted on Yahoo for Wednesday May 1, 2013.

Williams was surprised that a friend of Crow's would give her a botox treatment as a gift because the singer/song writer looks so good. Sheryl said she decided to go and get the botox treatment done for around her eyes, but while sitting at the facility her eyes couldn't help wander to all the women with their eyebrows seemingly frozen in a position that appeared to be pointing up.

Sheryl Crow showed this to Williams and the audience by lifting her own eyebrows up with her fingers. While she was at the treatment facility and before she was taken in to get the injections, her manager called.

When Sheryl Crow told her manager where she was the manager told her she didn't need that and to get out of there. Sheryl did just that, but it was really the women that worked there with the frozen eyebrows that prompted her to put botox aside for now. Apparently Sheryl Crow did not want to look like one of the botox crowd.

Butt Implants! Yay! We rarely get to talk about butt implants here at Celebrity Plastic Surgery, so we get pretty excited when the oppurtunity arises. It seems as if Karrisa and Kristina Shannon, Playboy Playmates and former stars of The Girls Next Door have given us such an oppurtunity. The twins, who also appear to have gotten breast augmentations in recent years, are currently starring on Celebrity Big Brother, and a recent challenge had them flashes their butts, and those butts did not look natural. They have an awkward shape to them for one thing, as they’re too round. Secondly, they’re both ultra thin and not super-curvy, so their butts looked stapled on (think of a bad boob job on a really thin girl). Finally, their butts hang in an awkward manner, making it seem like their bodies aren’t used to the added posterior weight. So yes folks, those butts are probably the result of plastic surgery, and they’re definitely not the best butt-jobs we’ve ever seen.

She may also use fillers, like Restylane, to maintain her signature full lips.

She has also had more extensive work in the form of cheek implants and a mid-facelift, which is popular with actors in their 30’s.

Plastic Surgeon Dr. John Di Sai reveals, “Shannen has had facial work. At least a mid-face lift and/or cheek implant. More likely would be a mid-facelift with eyes and a forehead lift between 2000 and now. Maybe she has ruled any out any more surgery for a while which would be a good choice if I am close.”

Plastic Surgeon Dr. Jennifer Walden thinks that Shannen’s procedures have been less invasive, telling Make Me Heal, “In my opinion, these days Shannon Doherty doesn’t look much older, just different. One can see this in various photos taken at different angles and lighting at different points in time. This leads one to wonder if either 1) some photos have been retouched or possibly distorted (the Star Magazine cover), as we all know is possible with the photoshop techniques available on most computers today, or 2) she may have undergone some non-permanent, minimally invasive procedures. For example, in some pics her crow’s feet appear much more prominent than in other more recent ones even though her face is animating (smiling) the same.

This could be due to Botox, which selectively and temporarily paralyzes the muscle called the orbicularis oculi that squeezes the eye shut and also causes those stubborn wrinkles emanating from the corner of the eye. Also, nonpermanent fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane that are made of hyaluronic acid may have been injected to plump up her lips, nasolabial folds, and cheeks. I have neither examined nor treated her, but I seriously doubt she has had any major plastic surgery done.

We don’t really consider Botox or fillers “plastic surgery” in the sense of a true operation in the operating room with anesthesia– these are minimally invasive injections involving a syringe filled with the product and a needle that registered nurses and doctors can deliver with proper training and certification (that being said– pick your provider wisely!). In Manhattan, some of these things are just as much a part of maintenance as teeth whitening, brow waxing, and hair highlights.

Some of the unique features of Shannon Doherty’s face that make her memorable include the gap between her two central incisors (front teeth), and the asymmetry between the two halves of her face. Pretty much everyone’s face is asymmetric when the right side is compared to the left; this is one of Shannon’s most distinct, and in my opinion, attractive features. It makes her who she is.”

In the past, Shannen has also likely had a nose job to give her nose the tiny shape fans adore. She has also probably had a breast augmentation, albeit a subtle one.

Plastic Surgeon Dr. John Di Saia says, “She has probably had breast implants in and out over the years although I can’t be sure.”

In the past, Shannen has sued publications for reporting that she has had work done. At the time, she said, “I’m actually willing to go as far as to go sit down with whatever plastic surgeon they want to put in front of me who can inspect my face.”

It is possible that Shannen is being truthful when she says she is entirely natural. And given her angry history, we don’t want to say definitely otherwise. But it is unlikely that a 37-year old has maintained such a smooth porcelain complexion on her own. On his blog, plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn also hints that he suspects Shannen of having work done, but he declines to say what for fear of legal action.

Shannen looks great, so whether or not she’s had plastic surgery, fans of Brenda Walsh are likely to tune in to see what the bad girl has going on these days.

Nowadays Hollywood actors and pop music celebrities aren’t the only one’s who are constantly getting all kinds of rumors regarding their plastic surgery. Apparently, these kind of rumors are following even sport stars – recently people started speculating about possible Serena Williams plastic surgery. She and her sister Venus are very successful in professional tennis and they both have many fans worldwide.

Most of the rumors about possible Serena Williams plastic surgery started in 2010, when people saw her photos in which she appeared quite different which, of course, caused some suspicion. The most speculated plastic surgery when talking about Serena is rhinoplasty. If we compare the photos taken in 2010, we can see that her nose shape has changed in very short period of time. However, Serena Williams has denied all of the rumors about her possible plastic surgeries. Some people believe her and they say that those changes which we see in photo comparisons could have happened for reasons other than plastic surgery. For example, the shape of her nose could appear slightly different because of the make-up she wore.

It is also possible that her face looks different because of different lighting, view angle or her facial expression. One way or another, she certainly isn’t one of the plastic surgery addicted celebrities and she looks natural. Celebrity world is full of stories about plastic surgeries that went wrong, but this story surely isn’t one of them. Even if Serena Williams did have a plastic surgery, it was done very professionally and made very subtle changes on her appearance without drastically changing any of her features.

All things considered, there is some suspicion that there was at least one Serena Williams plastic surgery. However, we still don’t know if it really happened or if it is yet another rumor. One thing is clear – Serena Williams looks great and it doesn’t look that she would need any kind of plastic surgery to look that way. For now, she looks as natural as it gets, but only the time will show if she will decide to surgically alter her looks when she will begin to grow older.

It seems every time I open US Weekly or In Touch Weekly I see a photo of Selma Blair. Here is another one. I actually met Selma Blair during my college years. She attended my alma mater Kalamazoo College for a year or two and was an acquaintance of mine. I found her to be friendly, somewhat quirky, and, at times, hilarious. She once turned down one of my best friends for a date, stating she had to attend the “Governor’s Ball.” It’s nice to see she has established great success as an actor. She still looks like she did over 15 years ago.

Is Selma Blair Against Plastic Surgery?

Actress Selma Blair is one of the rare few actresses who exist in both the Indie and mainstream film scenes. Although she is currently on the new hit sitcom Anger Management with Charlie Sheen, it doesn’t mean that Selma is going all-Hollywood and getting plastic surgery and Botox injections. In fact, quite the opposite.

40-year old Selma Blair has a smooth, youthful face that belies her middle age. However, she must treat any wrinkles with skincare products, not Botox as the actress says plastic surgery isn’t for her.

In an interview with In Style magazine in the past, Selma Blair said that although she doesn’t have plastic surgery, she isn’t against others going under the knife.

“I wanted to get Botox once to make me feel younger. But I don’t really have [enough wrinkles] to justify it yet. As for going under the knife, I can’t say I wouldn’t, but I haven’t thought too much about it,” she said.

The same philosophy goes for breast implants.

Selma explains, “I wore huge prosthetic boobs for a John Waters movie. They were glued on every day by a really handsome guy, but ripping them off every night was definitely outside my realm of comfort. After those bosoms, I didn’t mind being flat-chested anymore!”

So how does she stay so good-looking? “I go to a spa in L.A. called Kinara for its Skin Care Boot Camp. You go once a week for 12 sessions and they’ll look at your skin and tell you how to get it in better condition. They really helped me a lot. I also stay out of the sun.”

Clearly, good genes must also play a role in Selma’s appearance as skincare products can only do so much without plastic surgery.

The mother-of-one, who gave birth to son Arthur last July, stepped out in West Hollywood wearing little more than a light denim shirt dress.

As she ran errands against the sunny Californian backdrop, Selma proved less is more as she looked like a teenager in the no-fuss ensemble.

She let her long dark locks fall loosely around her shoulders, appearing to go make-up free beneath her oversized sunglasses.

Selma was seen cooling off with an iced coffee as she strolled on the sidewalk wearing quirky boat shoes with a red and white stripe wedge.

The Michigan native, who waved goodbye to her thirties last Saturday, is shooting Four Saints, following the story of four nurses who operate an illegal dressing station by the trenches of World War I Flanders.

Take former Dead or Alive singer Pete Burns, for instance. Known in the early 80s for his flamboyant, androgynous appearance, Burns has undergone several cosmetic surgeries -- likening them to simply "buying a new sofa" and saying it's something he'll always keep doing because it's no different than people just rearranging or redecorating their living room every once in a while.

He may enjoy it, but the rest of us see something a bit unnatural, to say the least.

Maybe it’s just the combination of slim-cut jeans and those horrible wedges? She just seems drastically slimmer in these photos, thinner than I’ve ever seen her. What’s going on with her?

I’m assuming Sarah Palin and Willow were in California to support Bristol, who is on the current season of Dancing With the Stars. This photo agency, Fame/Flynet, must have followed Palin around the whole day, because they detail her movements precisely: “Former Governor Sarah Palin spent the day with her daughter Willow in Studio City, California on October 7, 2012. The two stopped in to get facials and manicures at a nail salon, shopped at Kmart and stopped for some lunch at KFC.” That sounds like a really good day except for the Kmart shopping. Surely Gov. Palin can make a go of it at Walmart…? And I would think that KFC would be a great way to ruin a manicure.

Judging by the before and after pictures, Gellar's nose no longer has an asymmetrical bulge at the end and is instead much rounder and pleasing to the eye. Plastic surgeon Dr. John Di Saia claimed she looks great after her nose job.

There are some celebrity watchers though who claim that Gellar has actually had a third nose job, making her look really bizarre!

When Gellar was asked in 2004 if she would go under the knife, she was quoted as saying: "I can't comment now what I'm going to do 10, 15 years from now. What I just can't stand is when people's face changes. It's so disappointing to me. Faces are interesting, you know? Faces are what make us unique, and expression is what makes us unique."
